Ulmer’s Auto Care Opens 10th Location Near University of Cincinnati

Family-owned repair shop expands services to UC, local hospitals and Uptown professionals
CINCINNATI, Ohio (DATE) – Ulmer’s Auto Care, a locally and family-owned automotive repair business that will celebrate its 90th anniversary in 2026, is expanding its services to more Cincinnatians with the opening of Ulmer’s Auto Care Uptown, its 10th location in Greater Cincinnati.
Located at 2924 Short Vine Street near the University of Cincinnati campus, the shop is the former site of Short Vine Star Motors, which has served the community since 1977. Ulmer’s will begin full customer service scheduling at the location beginning January 2, 2026.
“This is our first truly urban location, right in the center of one of Cincinnati’s most important employment and education hubs,” said Bryan Kauffeld, CEO of Ulmer’s Auto Care. “We’re thrilled to bring our exceptional service and support to UC, nearby hospitals and the many professionals who work in the area.”
The Uptown location will feature eight service bays and a seven-person team, including four technicians and three service advisors. All existing Short Vine Star Motors employees are joining Ulmer’s Auto Care, with additional team members added to support a projected growth of roughly 25% in the first year.
To meet the needs of customers in a fast-paced, urban area, Ulmer’s Auto Care Uptown will offer shuttle and valet services for UC and nearby hospital employees, loaner vehicles for customers needing extended repairs, and loaner bicycles for UC students while their vehicles are being repaired.
All Uptown customers will benefit from Ulmer’s digital vehicle health inspections, performed on every vehicle and delivered digitally with photos, video and clear recommendations for next steps.
“Uptown customers are incredibly busy,” Kauffeld said. “Our goal is to make car care as simple and convenient as possible, with pick-up and drop-off options as well as transparent digital inspections that will help customers make informed decisions quickly and get them back on the road in no time.”
In 2020, Ulmer’s Auto Care operated two locations with about 20 team members. With the opening of this new location, it will have 10 locations, more than 90 team members and will have serviced an estimated 32,000 vehicles companywide throughout 2025, making Ulmer’s one of the largest independently owned repair providers in the tri-state.
